Breaking news: Meet the Black Hole at the Centre of our Milky Way Galaxy.
Sad news for Astronomy fans... NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) that has a 20% share of the program &costs, will conclude the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) mission in 2022, after a successful eight years of science, NASA announced.
Is this the end for Ingenuity? A piece of supplemental technology is causing some problems for NASA' Ingenuity helicopter. NASA said Ingenuity recently had issues with solar panels collecting dust decreasing its ability to recharge the lithium-ion batteries. This has forced NASA to temporarily pause flights, and could mark the beginning of the end as Mars gets colder and darker over the next 10 weeks of winter, making battery recharging more difficult.
Mars quake NEW RECORD! NASA's InSight Records Monster Quake on Mars. Estimated to be magnitude 5, the quake is the biggest ever detected on another planet. The quake occurred on May 4, 2022, the 1,222nd Martian day, or sol, of the mission. This adds to the catalog of more than 1,313 quakes InSight has detected since landing on Mars in November 2018. The largest previously recorded quake was an estimated magnitude 4.2 detected Aug. 25, 2021.

Attention Fans of Earth. How many nukes do we need? Have you heard of the acronym M.A.D? Appropriately it stands for Mutually Assured Destruction meaning that if a full nuclear exchange happened between the superpowers, humans would experience a global extinction event.
Did you know..... that in April 2016 with the launch of CRS-8, SpaceX successfully vertically landed a first stage 🚀 on an ocean drone ship landing platform?
A year ago on the 19th of April 2021, NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter became the first aircraft to make a powered & controlled flight on another planet. Would you like more posts on Mars? Tell us in the comments!
The US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine decadal survey... for planetary science calls for the first dedicated Uranus probe. Yes we know how that sounds but at @educatingspace we would like to hear your best punning efforts for this mission specifically the Uranus Orbiter and Probe (UOP) that will hopefully launch in 2031 or 2032. Did you know that the last time we passed by Uranus was with the Voyager 2 probe in 1986?
